At Place de Bleu we seek inspiration in the ethnic treassure chest of craft techniques and diverse ways of interpreting colours and patterns. Combined with the Scandinavian design tradition, this gives our products their distinctive look.
Place de Bleu as a social business
As a social business and sewing workshop we re-invest all profit from the sale of products and sewing assignments to further the purposes of Place de Bleu. We employ and upskill marginalized women in our work community – many of whom have exceptional handcraft skills, typically inherited through generations.
What We Do
We design textile products for the home such as cushions, poufs, bags, tea and coffee cosies and much more in our own brand. Our products can be found at retailers in several major cities across Denmark and increasingly abroad. Additionally we complete sewing assignments for other designers and companies in our sewing workshop.
Our company was founded in 2010 at Blågårds Plads, hence the name Place de Bleu.
In 2016 Place de Bleu became part of the social enterprise Grennessminde, a residence, training and educational centre for young people with special needs. It is our hope that this will lead to a long-term cooperation in which we together help many move forward and strengthen the inclusive work environment in Denmark.
